A co-creative AI workshop dedicated to reinterpreting the Peutinger Map (Tabula Peutingeriana) as digital art, delivered within the “Active Protection of Cultural Heritage — Tabula Peutingeriana” project.
Held across seven sessions between 4 and 30 April 2025 at the SKIP centre in Niš with ten participants, the workshop moved from theory and an introduction to AI tools toward the full practical production of an animation — from script writing to final video. Participants worked with tools including ChatGPT, MidJourney, Stable Diffusion, KlingAI and Minimax.
The result was a three-minute AI-generated animation depicting the ancient Roman road, with special focus on the region of Niš and the figure of Emperor Constantine. A Serbian version and an English-subtitled version were produced.
