XR LAB is a three-week structured educational program at the American Resource Center (ARC) in Belgrade that introduces young people to immersive XR technologies while deepening their understanding of American culture, values and innovation — connecting technology, creativity and cultural literacy through hands-on creation.
The program ran across six sessions (110 minutes each) with twelve participants aged 18–35, working in six pairs. No prior technical knowledge was required — only basic computer literacy. Following a project-based model, each pair designed, built and deployed a complete interactive VR experience.
The curriculum moved week by week: foundations of VR and AI-assisted 3D content creation; building interactive environments in Unity 6 with spatial design and readable in-headset UI; then interaction logic with the XR Interaction Toolkit and final deployment — building APKs and installing them on Meta Quest devices.
Each pair selected cultural artifacts from six curated thematic modules — Symbols of Freedom & Democracy, Space Exploration, Film & Media, Historical Leadership & Civil Rights, Innovation & Technological Progress, and Everyday Icons of American Culture — producing six unique VR exhibitions with 24 AI-generated models in total.
Final deliverables: six complete interactive VR cultural applications, a final analytical report, and archived Unity projects and VR builds.
